On the road to Mt. Hope

This is one of photographs that entered my mind’s eye months before I actually took the picture. Obviously, the first thing that pops out is the elegant rock, which is out of place in an area dominated by basalt and the sedimentary Latah formation. This is precambrian basement rock of granite and schist, and it is literally hundreds of millions of years older than the surrounding terrain. Oh, and the light was good, and the water was calm.
