A jaw-dropping feature in Frenchman Coulee (at the top of the grade, across the river from Vantage, WA) is “The Feathers.” It is a chorus line of massive basalt pillars of the so-called Roza member, of the 15 million year old Wanapum flow, which often includes these large crystals of cooled lava. It is a very popular climbing spot, especially on long weekends in decent weather.
