Perhaps the best thing that happens when I’m with a camera is that my eyes will seize command of the cockpit. Of course, the lab work is still done between the ears but it’s in leaps of imagination, rather than overt calculation. I’m reacting to what I’m seeing in the available light and the possibilities of composition. In this case, it meant mounting the tripod right in the creek. The only better explanation is the picture itself. Not a click, but a gentle ca-chunk with the bit of time lapse.
