The dew and the fly

I didn’t have much to show for a Labor Day outing in 2015 until I reached Fish Lake, near Marshall, and began exploring the shoreline. The reeds and grass were just beginning to turn colors after a few colder nights. In the midst of this, I heard a loon’s call out on the water, and got a glimpse of the bird as it surfaced. We don’t usually get visits from loons this far south.
